Born in Duluth to Maurice and Ella Labovitz on June 3, 1928, he attended Congdon Park Elementary, East Junior Significant and Central Superior educational institutions. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 1949 with a degree in organization administration, and continued to continue to keep training a important part of the rest of his everyday living.
