GM responds to allegations of racism

DETROIT – GM is responding to allegations of racism that had been printed in a complete-page ad in Sunday’s Detroit Absolutely free Push.

The ad accuses GM CEO Mary Barra of consistently refusing to meet with a number of Black-owned media organizations. Detroiter Byron Allen is inquiring GM to allocate at least 5% of its promoting spending plan to go towards Black-owned media companies. The advertisement claims considerably less than 1% of GM’s advertising finances goes towards Black-owned media firms.

The automaker reported Barra has met with Allen in advance of and will go on to do so. In addition, they explained the claim that they devote only .5% of its advertisement on Black-owned media is not accurate, citing its partnership with the Countrywide Newspaper Publishers Affiliation, a collection of African-American newspaper publishers across the United States.

The automaker cited its function with HBCUs, its partnership with Countrywide Affiliation Of Black Owned Broadcasters and AIMM.

GM mentioned it is focused to increase range in its advertising and marketing and husband or wife organizations.
