Cummings’ new Tucson business, a 3,200-square foot constructing at 4713 E. Camp Lowell Drive now going through transforming, is eyeing an open home in March or April, Francis said. The business will in the beginning support the company’s missile defense, Air Power, and Navy systems.
Working at Cummings was a timely opportunity for Francis, who stated she experienced plenty of alternatives at Raytheon and was on an upward profession trajectory, but she desired to devote additional time with her 9-yr-previous son.
“To me, it is definitely thrilling to perform at a women-owned company, and a modest business,” Francis explained. “There’s this sort of a distinctive chance for function/life harmony listed here that I have not had before.”
Francis stated she was also drawn by Cummings’ emphasis on community involvement.
ADVANCING STEM IN TUCSON
The business programs to work regionally to progress STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) packages and operate with veterans’ groups and nonprofits, Francis claimed.
In the beginning, Francis reported, Cummings may perhaps husband or wife on STEM outreach with providers like Raytheon, which runs a number of STEM programs including Math Moves U and supports plans like Ladies Who Code.
She welcomes the likelihood to be a position model for ladies to look at professions in engineering and other advanced technical fields, noting that she used her degrees in math and pc science to get into engineering.
