WAVERLY – A nail salon was destroyed Thursday in a morning fire at a strip mall in Waverly.

Waverly firefighters were identified as to the scene at the Fourth Road Plaza strip shopping mall all around 9 a.m. The blaze started at Jimmy’s Nails & Spa at 1810 Fourth St. S.W. No. 103. The small business is a whole reduction, according to Jeff Thier, assistant chief with the Waverly fireplace section. No a single was within the organization at the time.

“Due to the lack of oxygen in the building, it in fact put by itself out,” Thier reported.

An employee in a neighboring business named 911 when she arrived to do the job and recognized a fire alarm was likely off. The employee did not smell smoke, but explained there was a “definite odor.”

Crews responded with four vehicles and about 20 volunteer firefighters. None of the organizations had been open at that time.

The Plaza also houses Tapatio Mexican Grill, Moe & Arrow Boutique, Charge Cutters and Situs Serious Estate Source Corp. There was no structural injury to the neighboring firms, but some claimed smoke problems and an odor.

Waverly Mayor Mayor Adam Hoffman posted his condolences on Facebook.

“My views go out to the house owners and staff members who are going through fireplace, smoke and h2o reduction and damage these days at The Plaza on Fourth. I desire for a fast recovery.”
