East County business proprietor receives probation for tussle with area media

EL CAJON, Calif. (CNS) – A La Mesa company owner was sentenced to a two-year probation term Wednesday stemming from a scuffle with customers of the neighborhood media in entrance of his outfits retailer.

Peter Carzis, 77, pleaded responsible last month to felony vandalism in relationship with the January 2020 face with reporters who tried to interview him outside the house his business relating to an alleged recording of him fondling a woman outside the house the retailer.

News crews gathered at Peter’s Men’s Attire on La Mesa Boulevard to attempt to get a reaction from the defendant relating to the recorded incident, which was posted on the “La Mesa Happenings” Facebook website page.

Online video shot by community news shops confirmed him cursing at reporters, shoving a cameraman and slapping a telephone out of a reporter’s hand prior to strolling again into his store. No injuries were noted, but Carzis induced “irreparable damage” to the videographer’s camera, valued at about $7,000, in accordance to La Mesa law enforcement.

He may nonetheless be demanded to pay back for the digital camera, while the restitution concern was not tackled at Wednesday’s sentencing hearing.
